Strategies adopted to achieve ODF status

School Sanitation and Hygiene Education

Parents were mobilized through School children.

It was ensured from the principals that no student in their

school used open place/ field etc. as human lavatory.

A large measure of this success was because of the efforts

made by school children to act as Swachhta Doot to convince

their family members and neighbors to build and use toilets.

Self-realization, peer pressure and recognition together

played an important role in sustaining behavior change

among students.
