Strategies adopted to achieve ODF status

Public Education on Environmental Pollution

Villagers were educated about importance of good environment for a better quality of life.

They were told:

•         How are they spoiling land resources with OD and making places inhabitable.

•         The fields lying close to inhabited areas remained uncultivated because of OD with no fault of the landholders.

•         Open Defecation leads to ingestion of each others faeces and even if a single person is defecating in the open, he/she is a threat to the entire community,

•         A few triggers were applied to educate community like the villagers/community was collected at central place and a few techniques like transect walk, faucal mapping and assessment of quantity of shit produced by the villagers etc.
