NATIONAL LITERACY MISSION
National Literacy Mission (Saksharta)
or Total Literacy Campaign of Government of India has always been a priority campaign for Dr. Yudhbir
Singh.
He has been a driving force behind
motivating lot of people not only to join this campaign but to work with a great deal of
enthusiasm.
He has been
associated with Saksharta from the year 1993. Be this a part of his job profile or not, he has always been in
favour of education for everyone in the society and has been actively involved in the works related to spread
of basic education.
He started
Total Literacy Campaign in District Sirsa in September, 1996 and it was only due to his efforts &
motivation that more than 42,000 illiterate persons (15 yrs. – 35 yrs.) joined the literacy classes in the
first year itself.
District
Panchkula was adjudged as one of the best in the country in Total Literacy Campaign under the guidance &
leadership of Dr. Yudhbir singh in the year 1998.
He lead the
total literacy campaigns in District Fatehabad in the year 2006-07 and in District Sirsa in the year
2007-2008 successfully and the results were again among the best in the state.
Everyone
associated with Total Literacy Mission anywhere in the state know about Dr. Yudhbir singh and his drive for
spread of basic education.
He motivates literate people also to associate themselves with total literacy campaign
& help spread its importance in the society apart from making every orientation program / workshop /
general meeting an opportunity to make illiterate people aware about the basic education, motivate and
encourage them to join Saksharta classes so that they may be able to take care of themselves and not get
cheated easily.
